What Are the Dangers of a Cockroach Infestation?
For many people, cockroaches are just plain gross. However, cockroach infestations in your home are more problematic than an increased sighting of gross bugs. They also pose a health risk to you and your family.
Because cockroaches are attracted to food sources, they can easily cause food contamination. They not only regurgitate the food they eat, but also leave waste behind.
Not only is this disgusting, but cockroach waste also carries bacteria that were living inside the cockroaches. Here are some of the most common diseases and infections caused by roaches:
- Dysentery
- Gastroenteritis
- Leprosy
- Salmonella
- E. Coli
Cockroaches have also been known to aggravate allergies such as asthma. This can be particularly detrimental to children who suffer with this condition.
On top of that, when infestations are extremely bad, cockroaches have been known to enter body cavities such as your ears or nostrils.
